Is Manipulation a form of Rhetoric?

This post is sort of a test, as I still try to get adjusted to tumblr, but hopefully I get the hang of it. I wonder if manipulation can be an aspect of rhetoric. Rhetoric is the art of persuasion, but if used effectively, it can also be seen as manipulation. This is because, as one becomes persuaded, they are being altered through their mindset. I feel this idea can go into really murky waters. Therefore, I am not going to try to break it down too much, but as a whole, I do feel like rhetoric, if used in a specific sense, can be a form of manipulation.
