I was up on the roof helping someone from A/V support find an outside line for a time-lapse camera that will be recording the building of the new Science building on campus.

Cats of UTRGV: Rainy days

During the rainy days, the cats on the Edinburg campus have to seek shelter from the rain.  Some keep to themselves like the one in the cat feeding station while others come to the covered walkway and greet passers by.

Food pantries in Edinburg Texas

Many students who attend the campus food pantry at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley do not know that they cannot receive food assistance if they are not currently attending classes. If you are currently attending courses at UTRGV you are eligible to receive food assistance once a week. 

However there are a few other food pantries that will help you and your family with food assistance regardless of your student status. Luckily these food pantries are only a short drive from the UTRGV Edinburg campus.  

First Baptist Church Edinburg

This church also has a food pantry which is located on 201 E Samano St, Edinburg, TX 78539. Here the food pantry provides food, books, shoes and clothing for all ages on a monthly basis. Specifically the last Saturday at the end of every month. You do not need to be a current college student to receive food from this food pantry.

Harvest International Church

There is also a food pantry located inside the Harvest International Church (1215 N McColl Rd, Edinburg, TX 78541). You do not need to be a student to be assisted with food here but please bring proper documentation such as ID's and a light or water bill.

The First Lutheran Church 

For those who live close to the edinburg UTRGV campus, there is a church on Sugar road across from Walmart called The First Lutheran Church ( 302 Sugar Rd, Edinburg, TX 78539). This Church is also a food pantry, like many food pantries in the valley, it is recommended to bring in a light and water bill along with proper Identification. You do not need to be a current student to receive help at this food pantry.
