Pomodoro blog post dump

It’s the beginning of week two so another blog post and to think of averages, this means that I’m averaging one post a week, Yes! I’m typing this in a shut up and write session as part of the Lab (formerly known as the Collective Futures Lab) so I guess it’s cheating a bit but… to write a post (given the choice of writing anything) seems like it would be the best thing to have chosen I mean, there’s no chapter I’m in the middle of writing for example and not too much of a plan in terms of knowing what my chapters will be for the Exegesis.

So it’s great - a blog post to help clear the mind a bit, get it down on ‘paper’ so to speak. That’s the theory…

So in a nutshell, I will this week be looking at my ‘in bed, spontaneous ideas’ list I have in Evernote. It would be good to have a psyical note pad to write these mostly spontaneous ideas occurring - you know, the one you have by your bed and on your person at all times? I’ve tried that before but ultimately don’t carry through with the keeping it on me bit.

Back to Evernote. I’m surprised at the list of ideas I’ve generated over the 1st semester. I’m sure I’ve touched upon this before but have been inspired in many ways through the writing and research of semester one for it to have given a lot of food for thought. This is the time now though to perhaps analyse what I’ve jotted down there.

Seemingly moving away from what was a semblance of an outline (recently presented in the Ceres workshop), I am now left with a relatively tabula rasa, an open plan for what I’ll be doing, making, researching and writing.

It’s not like I ‘don’t have anything’ though, much. Much of semester one really placed me in terms of my practice and ideas. It placed me in terms of some aspirations and coming down to the important stuff, it has given the basis of a framework which guides the Exegesis.

Looking at my ideas, I can pull out some main themes, look at them all and see what might be viable in terms of doing/making them this semester. This model though is a bit different from the ‘Ceres Plan’ where I was going to investigate various critical theories and respond to them with works which now feels like a plan that was more solid in comparison. This worries me a bit. I can do the works I’ve got in mind but I really don't want to make them and then, be rummaging around research wise to try and ‘make fit’ the exegesis. It has to be solid. There has to be a connection, a thread, an ultimate contribution.

So Neal just said there’s (now) about 5 minutes left in this pomodoro and I should wrap this up - you know, make it neat and ‘postable’ by the end of it.

Still waiting, probably about 2 minutes left… Going to Ian Potter this afternoon - looking forward to seeing the photo’s of Ian Strange. That will be cool.
