Post-Apoc Quest: Mutant Madness - Turn 5.
Action: E.
Special Action: #1 and #3. Presidential Dictatorship wins (with a bit of a Gerontocratic civil service)!
We had managed to send out some more people to explore the area a bit more than just walking outside for a few hours. This time we sent out two groups of 4 people, all packing food and water to last for a couple of days. They would scout the area around the Vault, and they didn’t reach too away but what they did find was more and more of woods. So, we know for certain that this patch of green isn’t just a patch. It’s a whole forest. Or something, it’s what one of the computer geeks said it was called.
IMMEDIATE SURROUNDING AREA EXPLORED! DISCOVERED *MORE* FOREST!
The talk amongst the People about what should be changed, and how it should be changed, continued for days until one side eventually won out. One man will get picked - or voted, as the geeks that read about it call it - to be the leader of the People. He’ll listen to what everyone thinks and say, but it is up to him to decide what’s the best call to make on the tough decisions. Nobody that has lined up for the voting has been any big fans of the Elders as of yet, and in fact no-one of the Elders got any serious attention when the topic came up if an Elder should be “the leader”. It really seems like the People are tired of being pushed around by some old coots.
But that was really only the beginning of this whole clusterfuck, now we have to actually pick one for the job! Plenty thought it was a good idea to run for office - especially when the office was one of the big Elder council rooms that has been “refurbished” for the job as an actual office - but few got any support from other people. Zip Lazy-Eyes got laughed at when he said he’d be the leader, and the first thing he would do was to make a grand army and destroy the cockroach menace.
Besides that, we managed to end up with 4 candidates. They all have plenty of respect from the People, but not everyone likes all of them. That’s not going to be a problem though, unless the future Leader makes it his job to screw people over. When the voting day came, the People gathered inside the meeting hall, sitting in the big and red-clothed chairs, waiting to get it over with or to decide the fate of the entire Vault and its people respectively. Each and everyone one of them took their turn in stepping up on the stage, give a small speech about why they’d be the best man for the job, and a show of hands would then decide who was the favourite. After the long winded speeches that nearly all of them made, trying to rile up as many people as possible to vote for them, their whole speil was easy to summarize.
Candidate 1: Large Dan.
“You know me. I lead the biggest gang down the hallways, and it’s about time we make things easier for all of us. Vote for me, and I’ll do what’s right for the People, and I’ll take care of anyone that doesn’t know what’s good for him. When the old bastards have given me all the keys to the weapon lockers and whatever the hell they’re hiding, things are going to change for the better around here...”
Candidate 2: Widdle.
“Yeah, uh, hi. It’s me, Widdle. I’m one of the computer guys, but you already knew about that, heh. Well, um, vote for me and I’ll do everything humanly possible to dig up all the information from the computers, lock up the doors, and find out everything there is to know about anything! No, come on, it’s really important stuff, you guys! Think about so much we could learn if we just dug a little bit deeper! We’ve come so far these past few months, imagine if we actually had someone good at these things leading us! I, uh, yeah... I suppose I’m good at that kind of stuff.”
Candidate 3: Pete-n-Greg.
“Alright, look. Getting food and water is the obvious first choices we need to be concerned with, but I can’t be the only one that’s curious about what’s going on outside that Vault door. Me ‘n Greg... Yes, I was getting to it, Greg. Yeah, I mean, imagine it. We have NO idea what has been going on outside. We’ve seen animals and plants out there, why can’t there be more people there? I say we get the food and all that sorted out, and then go exploring! See what we can find, WHO we can find! We are in the most exciting times in history! At least, that’s what Greg keeps saying. I just think it’ll be cool to see what’s out there.”
Candidate 4: Coopie.
“Oh, of course there has to be a MAN running the show. I tell you what, if it hadn’t been for me, the plants topside would have been birdfeed by now and it’s dumb luck that the Hydroponics haven’t broken down yet! Ya’ll know what I’m good at. I know how to get people organized, and I got my priorities straight, unlike some other jack-offs we got here. A vote for Coopie is a vote for some fucking well-needed common sense.”
