Students are paying higher tuition than ever. Why can’t more of that revenue go to the people teaching them?

Administrators are easy straw men. I don’t think blaming the people who have to do the work that faculty can’t or choose not to do is the answer.
Colleges provide more support for students who are under-represented than they used to. The same is true of support for students with mental health issues.
Administrators have no choice but to add on to their jobs, and if someone won’t add it all on, the college will find someone else who will. I’ve spent my entire professional life as an adjunct, and being told I must add on teaching a class to my part-time administrative work for no additional pay is par for the course. My partner is continually asked to add on to his administrative responsibilities, and he must add it all on with a smile or lose his job before the yearly contract is up.
