Where are the university librarians? I'm doing student supervision and I wanna talk engagement for my student workers. I'm making memes for encouraging them to freaking put their patron interactions in our tracking thing. (Also for staff who are just as bad at doing it.) I've also been tasked with coming up with ways to create training modules that are more engaging than the nothing we have right now. I'm sitting down with our training matrix tomorrow and seeing what I can highlight out of it. I'm also going to check the student evaluations and see if there's any trends in stuff that needs addressing.

College librarian compiles guide to global pulp fiction

For the past 10 years, Nevins has dedicated himself to scouring every corner of the world for popular literature in all different languages, uncovering Egyptian and Indonesian dime novels, a Burmese equivalent to the popular British detective Sherlock Holmes and even a Japanese King Kong. His decade-long search has culminated in a 1,000-page tome of a guide to global popular literature for the first half of the twentieth century called The Encyclopedia of Pulp Heroes, which is expected to come off the printers this spring.

“Most people today would think that popular culture was the purview of Americans. … The world of popular culture is gloriously varied and complex, and there's just so much stuff in it that we don't know or have just forgotten about," Nevins said. "What we know about in America is really limited compared to what's out there."
