My life...
Today, I hugged and kissed my son and walked away as he boarded a metro train headed to his new home in Washington D.C. Although I am super excited for him, I also can't help feeling protective. I mean, once I return to my California home tomorrow, he will be 2,816 miles away from me (yes, I calculated). And I need to be certain that he is okay. I spent most of this summer with him, and I'm so glad I did. He deserves the very best that I am able to give and provide. He is my baby. All mine. This parenting thing never gets easier on your heart. It simply changes in level of responsibility.
