A Collin’s Gem miniature edition of The Universe, a 4 1/2 inch book about space by Pam Spence. It’s a great, I can easily imagine it being a full-size coffee table book. Plus, unlike most of my Collin’s Gem books, it’s not even a dictionary!

I have a lot of Collins miniature Gem Dictionaries for some reason. This isn’t even all of them, but the ones published in later years are bound differently and seem to be a part of a different series. All of the ones pictured were published between 1967 and 1971, and are 4 1/2 inches tall.
I always find them at used book sales- it’s interesting to see traces of their previous owners.
A Collins Gem Crossword Dictionary, almost 5 inches tall, published 1999. It contains lists of words fitting various categories, arranging them by word length. Apparently it is bound in “real leather”, making it the the fanciest Collins Gem book I own despite its humble purpose.
I had this book as a kid but a different edition with a scorpion on the cover. I absolutely adored it, I brought it everywhere with me for years but then I sadly misplaced it. I came across it again and couldn't resist buying and just like before, I'm in love and can't stop reading 🤩
