El regalo que me dio la escuela para decirme gracias por el trabajo que hago. Vamos Colombia!
November 14th
Woke up this morning and went for a quick run. When I got back I decided to work more on the various writing pieces I'm working on. I then had a chance to eat and read a few chapters of the book I'm currently reading. Now I'm watching my adviser from high school coach his soccer team in the Colorado 3A state championship game!

Today was long but really fun. Woke up around 6:30 so I could shower and eat before I left. We got to the rink around 7:45 and then had our first game at 8:35. We won the first round robin game but sadly lost the next two. We did end up winning the game for 3rd place and even got medals. I scored 2 goals in the last game and played pretty well throughout. The entire team really stepped up and played better than they did last tournament, which was really awesome to see.

Today I walked around the neighborhood a little bit before coming back and working out. Tomorrow Jon and I are playing in a roller hockey tournament. It should be fun but I think it will be a long day. Our first game is at 8:35. The great thing about playing hockey down here is that the month I am home before moving to Bellingham to go to college I can use to work on my stick skills before lacrosse starts, instead of trying to get into shape.

This weekend has already been busy. Yesterday we went to migration to get all of our visas extended so we could legally stay past November 16th. Just for context, think of the worst DMV story you have heard, and multiply it by 3. We left campus at 9:15 and arrived to the migration office at around 10. We walk in and wait about an hour in line to show our papers and passports. After this, we are given numbers and are told to go to the second floor. So far, so good. Here's where the bad part starts. Elliott and Jon didn't get through the line as they were missing a photocopy of their passports. While the three of us who got through went upstairs and waited, Jon and Elliot went back downstairs and got in the first line again. We waited from 11 am until 2:05 for the first of us to be called. Vida was called first, with Channele not too long after her. I was called about 10 minutes after Channele was called. It took 2 minutes for the guy to input all the information and stamp my passport before telling me to go to the next room. I waited about a minute before they told me to sit down and took my picture. Then they got fingerprints and said I was free to go and set until February 11. I then waited for the other guys to get done. I was done around 3:07. Jon and Elliott weren't done until 3:50. At this time we left and went to eat. We didn't return to campus until past 5 pm. It was the longest day I have had here, but I'm glad everything is set for me during this last month.

Being someone with a wanderous heart is hard. I mean, any time I say that I want to go somewhere new and experience something different, I get told that I'm not content with where I am. By no means is it discontent that I feel. Having lived Granite Falls for 16 years of my life (besides the school months for junior and senior year), I have never felt discontent. I just felt that I was missing something. Even now, living in Bogotá, Colombia, I feel a sense of wanderlust. I want to see things I haven't seen, experience things I haven't experienced, and go places I haven't been. Routine is something that both annoys me and honestly makes me feel contained. I don't want to be stuck anywhere or in anything that I can't leave when I feel like it and that is something that is looked upon with judgement by many in our society today.

Today is the beginning of my last full month in Colombia. My time here has been extremely short and I hope to return as soon as I can. I love my job, the teachers I work with, the other gappies I live with, and just living in this spectacular country. Last night I took a detour on my way to the grocery store and just walked around the neighborhood a bit. Things like this have made me fall in love with this city and country even more. I could just walk around all night and be perfectly content. There's something magical about this city. Anyway, as this is my last full month in Colombia, I think will be posting more often.
