November 7th
This weekend has already been busy. Yesterday we went to migration to get all of our visas extended so we could legally stay past November 16th. Just for context, think of the worst DMV story you have heard, and multiply it by 3. We left campus at 9:15 and arrived to the migration office at around 10. We walk in and wait about an hour in line to show our papers and passports. After this, we are given numbers and are told to go to the second floor. So far, so good. Here's where the bad part starts. Elliott and Jon didn't get through the line as they were missing a photocopy of their passports. While the three of us who got through went upstairs and waited, Jon and Elliot went back downstairs and got in the first line again. We waited from 11 am until 2:05 for the first of us to be called. Vida was called first, with Channele not too long after her. I was called about 10 minutes after Channele was called. It took 2 minutes for the guy to input all the information and stamp my passport before telling me to go to the next room. I waited about a minute before they told me to sit down and took my picture. Then they got fingerprints and said I was free to go and set until February 11. I then waited for the other guys to get done. I was done around 3:07. Jon and Elliott weren't done until 3:50. At this time we left and went to eat. We didn't return to campus until past 5 pm. It was the longest day I have had here, but I'm glad everything is set for me during this last month.
