Hey look it’s another one of those. To remind you all what is it:
(it’s pre-2019 because fuck you!)
It’s a color-coded Wikipedia table that to edit properly, I had to go to another Wiki page that’s unprotected even for my account... Anyway, I color coded that table accordingly to the map below, in the shades that a country is gonna get colored in on this map if they were to win. So for the next year, expect seeing The Netherlands being colored in the same shade you’re seeing the Swedish country on the map right now. Also I fucking hate these colors if I didn’t make it clear last year; the text is getting hard to read with those colors applied.
Just worth noting that every future country who has max victories will be put down in that pink color you saw on last year’s stats. I maaaay want to edit out those colors if Ireland ever wins again and then we’ll know the ACTUAL map color of things, but yeah.
So there we had:
• one country rivalling to tie with Ireland’s record amount of wins; • two countries coming close to going up to par with Sweden’s result; • two other countries reaching out to 5 victories (and actually one of them getting it!); • two other countries hoping to get their 4th win ever; • four countries - to get their 3rd one; • five - their 2nd one; • and even ten countries hoping to make history as the first winners of their country for their country.
Based on the rankings of those non-winning finalist countries, here’s a sole ranking for those that placed from best to worst: North Macedonia -> Australia -> Iceland -> Czech Republic -> Cyprus -> Malta -> Slovenia -> Albania -> San Marino -> Belarus.
I promise to cook up more of those stats at a later time, now that we’ll be having Eurovision Young Dancers (hopefully) and Junior Eurovision this autumn! o/
