Animal of the day: Cheetah! (Acinonyx jubatus) The cheetah is the only known member of its genus, making it unique among the big cats! It is also the fastest land animal, with its top speed being 65 mph! There are several color mutations of the cheetah, two of which are the spotless, or pale cheetah, and the king cheetah (the one with darker spots)! They are commonly associated with the African savannah environments where they are native to, but a little-known fact is that they actually inhabit parts of Iran as well and used to roam throughout the Middle East!
