COLOUR PRINTING
There are some differences between black and white printing and colour printing. As we could have a red light in darkroom while making bw prints, in colour practise we cannot expose the paper on any of the lights, all process has to be done in darkness.
While printing colour images we must control also the colour balance and the density. so first when we are doing test stripes we are looking for a right exposure. When this is achieved then we start correcting the colour.
Contrast can be adjust partially through the printing process but it is the paper which you are going to choose gives the best result:
- kodak Supra - normal contrast
- kodak Portra - low contrast
- kodak Ultra - high contrast
BLUE, GREEN and RED are the primary colours of light. All three primaries combined make WHITE light. If you combined two primary colours you will get third colour known as a complimentary colour. The relation between primary and complimentary colours is a basic to know how to process colour printing.
All range of colours can be create with combinations of yellow, magents and cyan. You should only use two filters. Do not use cyan (why??). While printing remember that long exposure reducing the contrast and lowering the colour saturation.
