In lieu of current events, I finally finished colouring this which I started like I'm not even sure how many years ago. However I have taken the opportunity to reassess her design a little. After reading up on the current state of Sergal lore, I wanted to make her more accurate. The gradient of her body is artificially achieved with fur dyeing. Her natural fur is just solid blue, I think it'll be the lightest shade like at the bottom of her body, as a homage to her very first design. Her pads, mouth and tear ducts are now the same fleshy tones as seen in the reference art (although the tongue displayed here is before it's cut to be forked in which case it then has a purple gradient from the tip). Her claws are a murky blend of dark brown/black at the tips and get progressively lighter. The tuft at the end of her tail is now just white. And one of the most notable changes is instead of having purply-pink scars below her eyes, she now has red Shigu tattoos a.k.a the Wolf's mark/the Rain's mark!
When I first made her she was heavily inspired by Rain Silves which I then translated into her character/personality to be like a crazy Rain stan lol. Now I find that dynamic is actually more feasible since it's been written into lore that the Northerners under Rain's Shigu Empire revered her for uniting them and underwent practices to honour her, such as the red tattoos. So in the end I'm quite happy to find that my once cringe, not-very-well-thought-out character can now actually fit nicely into the world of Vilous.

Decided that since I've reworked Frigus I'd go ahead and give the same treatment to Ryo since I kinda rushed his initial design and wasn't happy with it, despite the fact he was intended to be a sort of upgrade or replacement for Frigus. I think the colour choices and some of the markings are better but I'm still not certain I'm happy with the overall look. Might take more adaptations to really nail him. He's an Eastern sergal so his name reflects this as well as his red markings being kitsune inspired.

A little exercise in colouring while I familiarise myself with digital art again. And sometimes you just don't feel like drawing.
Took a pause in inktober to work on colour.
