Weapons carried by Vietnam MACV-SOG Recon Teams
I always loved the movie Heat and particularly the Colt Commandos used in this scene. I always wanted a Colt Commando.
And I finally built a clone. I collected the various parts over the years, took care of the paperwork, and finished putting it together today. This gun has a Colt lower with a A2 carry handle upper and a 5.56 11.5” 1:9 twist barrel.
I’ll test fire it this weekend. The only question is whether I should wear a suit to the range.
While Wayne does, technically, own a firearm, it’s almost entirely for show. He inherited his father’s shotgun (a Winchester 21) when the man passed, while his brother got their dad’s old service weapon (a Colt Commando) and eventually the house a few years later (both of which were of course seized by the police after his arrest.) Wayne is fairly sure the last time the Winchester was fired was back in Louisiana before the family moved to Hawkins, and he has never personally bought ammo for it.
