19-23~
19: What boosts your OC’s confidence the most?
Thanks!
No honestly, Colt has gotten used to working in the shadows, as no one really knows beyond two or three people that he was the Wolf of Denerim. So when he went out and dropped the food or coin that he’d made from stealing on the doorsteps or windows (or simply broke in and left it in plain sight) or those most in need of it, he did so without anyone knowing and not expecting any thanks for it.
This means that even the smallest word of thanks or gratitude from someone is enough to fluster him a little. Every time someone bothers to thank him personally for what he’s done, no matter if it’s stealing or acting as a Grey Warden, it boosts his confidence like nothing else. Makes everything worth it.
20: Does your OC hurt others often unintentionally? If yes, how?
All the time actually. Colt has a really short temper, and tends to snap at people when he gets worked up. He’s said some pretty cutting things to pretty much everyone in the party, and tends to be blunt with people when he’s uncomfortable with a subject. It’s actually what ends up endearing him to Sten, who actually appreciates his blunt nature.
He’ll always act unrepentantlu afterwards thought, and has a bad habit of using gifts and trinkets as a means of apologizing to people.
21: Does your OC hurt others often intentionally? If yes, how?
Also all the time.
Physically, Colt goes from simply being good at violence to actually enjoying it. A side effect of Zevran teaching him how to fight like an assassin, I’m sure. It gives him a sense of power over people, when he historically has had so little. So if someone challenges him to a fight, you can be damned sure that he’s going to take them up on it, enthusiastically. And if someone tries to attack him or hurt his friends, then their lives are going to be cut short.
Emotionally, Colt usually tries to avoid. Physical wounds can heal, but emotional wounds last a lot longer. Even so, Colt is quite cunning in his own regard and knows how to get under peoples skin. Fighting is easy and doesn’t always have to mean something, but if Colt comes at someone with poisonous words then you know you’ve really pissed him off. He’ll find every hurt or weakness, and exploit them all.
22: How does your OC usually show affection? Are they openly romantic or more restricted with their affectionate emotions?
Colt has never been openly romantic, ever. He does tend to be really physical with his affections, and often times will show support through gently bumping people with his elbow or laying a hand on their shoulder in support. When a person becomes his friend, he’s constantly hugging them or draping his arm across their shoulders or laying on them.
But romance, as in shows of love and public displays, he avoids with all the embarrassment of a teenage boy. Those things are only shown in private, only ever when Zevran is the only person who can hear him, spoken quietly when he thinks he can get away with it, and shown through the little things. Letting Zev sleep in after a rough night, cooking his favorite foods, braiding his hair. In the violent world that they live in, Colt also tends to shadow Zevran during battle. A couple of Colt’s scars may or may not have happened because he got between a blow and his favorite assassin.
It’s something that drives Zevran insane, even before he knew what it all meant.
23: Does your OC tend to hide something about their personality/essence when meeting new people? If yes, what?
Oh Colt is a huge liar. The things he hides the most are his age and his insecurities.
The tattoos that Colt has on his face for instance. Other than their more practical applications of darkening the areas around his eyes so that bright sunlight wont blind him, they also do really well in distracting people from his true age. They give definition to his face where there’s actually still baby fat, and makes his eyes seem smaller and brighter. Plus people tend to form their entire opinion of someone within the first ten seconds of meeting them, and with Colt most of that time is spent staring at his ink.
Colt’s insecurities (and often immaturities) are usually masked by his anger. If not anger, then Colt will pretend to be much more confident than he actually is in order to keep someone from realizing he has no real idea what he’s doing most of the time. Not many people can see through his bluster, and he takes any backlash and just deals with it later.
