I’ve owned just about every maker’s 1911/1911A1. . Now don’t get me wrong, I love all 1911s and I’m not here to say one is better than the other, but rather, I do cherish this particular @coltfirearms 1911A1 over all 1911s that I have ever owned. . Why? Because of the history. I’ve always been fascinated by the history of war, and what was used and carried. With WWII being a foundation for my interests in firearms at an early age, there were three guns I had always wanted to own and I have two of them. The last one I still need to complete my collection is a select-fire Thompson M1A1. But, my @auto_ordnance M1A1 SBR will do me fine until then. . 1) WWII dated @coltfirearms 1911A1 2) WWII dated Springfield M1 Garand . Quality craftsmanship starts with the design.  John Moses Browning was a genius at designing things for maximum function, and his Model 1911 is no exception.  Art.  That’s the only way to describe it.  Pure artistry in metal and wood. Nothing extraneous, and everything complimentary, all the pieces go together in a synergistic fashion so the end result really is more than the sum of its parts.

There’s not been a man like him since, and the world is poorer for it.
