In the Transfiguration we see the revelation of our future greatness. This glory which surrounds Jesus is to become our portion because He gives to us, His members, the right of sharing in the inheritance that He possesses as the very Son of God.

Holiness for us must be based upon the fulfillment of the divine law, the natural law, the precepts of the decalogue, the commandments of the Church, and the duties of our state. A piety that does not respect this hierarchy of duties ought to be held suspect; all asceticism that is not governed by the precepts and doctrine of the Gospel cannot come from the Holy Spirit Who inspired the Gospel. Our fidelity must not be bounded by the letter but have its source in love and be supported by confidence in a Savior full of kindness.
