we hope you gals and ghouls are ready for the spookiest night of the year, because delta phi is hosting FRIGHT KNIGHT ! everyone’s invited to the delta phi house on halloween night. come for the boos, and stay for the booze, food, and fun ! there will also be a costume contest, and the winner gets to win $1000. doesn't that sound like a real treat ?
dash interactions for the halloween party may start on OCTOBER 30, 6PM EST and end on NOVEMBER 3, 6PM EST. during this period, you may continue existing threads not related to the event.
hello students !! we hope all those that are returning are well rested after their summer break and are ready to jump into another exciting year with us here at to columbia university !! and that those that are new additions to our student body this year are ready to dive head first into life here, we are extremely excited to see what the future holds for you here at columbia and we hope that you’ll love your time here.
but before you get too caught up in catching up with friends and familiarizing yourself with your surroundings, there are a few things that our activity director would like for you to be made aware of heading into welcome week !!

interested in joining a sorority or fraternity ?
from friday ( october 11th ) til sunday ( october 13th ) rush week will be occurring. this is the time where you’ll be able to join your wanted sorority or fraternity, so be sure to put your name down before time’s up ! we’d hate for you to miss out on such an opportunity. this will also be the time to put your name down if you’d like to run for a position ! but beware, the spot isn’t easily given. the whole student body will be choosing via a vote at the end of the week. so get out there and campaign !!

columbia university is happy to boast a number of different clubs for different interests. if you look you’ll surely find something that fits !! so be sure to go out and check out the numerous stands from friday ( october 11th ) til sunday ( october 13th ) and sign up to join in on school spirit !! just like the sororities and fraternities you’ll also have the chance to sign up for a position within the groups, so if you think you have want it takes to run a group put your name down for the race !!

want a little more space to yourself ?
sometimes having a roommate isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s completely okay !! columbia is happy to offer a select few students single dorms for those who reside in hartley hall, watt hall, & carlton arms. so if you’re needing a little more quiet and time to yourself to get your study done, send one of our requests in !! but get in quick, there’s only a few rooms available !!

what happens next ?
all good things must come to an end sadly, welcome week ends on sunday ( october 13th ) and with that comes the start of the voting for the positions available within the university’s sororities, fraternities and clubs. voting is open to all student body so be sure to make your vote count !! the poll will close on wednesday ( october 16th ) so make sure to vote as soon as the link is released !!
oct 13th will also be the time when then roommates are released so be sure to go find your dorm and start getting to know the person you’ll be living with for the rest of the year !!
after that, classes commence on monday ( october 14th ) so make the most of your freedom before having to knuckle down into the routine of a new year !!
IN SHORT :
interactions begin on friday ( october 11th ) and though you are more than welcome to make starters based around anything, we’ve decided to give you all a sorts of mini-event to give you guys a little bit to work with when it comes to interactions instead of throwing you all in blindly to figure it all out !!
this is also a time for us admins to get everything in order, so you’ll need to send in anything you want your character to be apart of — sororities/fraternities/clubs — so we can add your character to the correct lists. you’ll also need to send in whether or not you’d like your character to be in one of the positions within said groups. us admins will not be deciding who gets the positions if there are multiple people wanting a position, it will be put to a vote and we ask that members vote for the character they think will be best in the position
for those who would like their characters to have a single room, this is the time to send in that request before we randomly select roommates for the group various halls !! please note only the characters that stay in hartley hall, watt hall, & carlton arms can have single rooms.
this mini-event will end on sunday ( october 13th ) so up until then you can base starters & interactions around welcome week !!
