the wildest thing about columbo in 2024 is how frequently people call columbo on the landline of wherever he happens to be. is that really how it worked in the landline era? you’d tell someone “hey im visiting movie starlet and murder suspect denise clarington at 2pm”, or whatever, and if they needed you at 2:15 they’d dial the operator and ask for a connection to the home of movie starlet and murder suspect denise clarington ?
