DeForest Kelley, Navy Log, “Nightmare off Brooklyn” (1957)
This is kinda “what if Bones wore gold instead of blue.” A fishboat captain and 2 civilians drag an “injured” (air quotes) man aboard a heavily armed Navy cruiser. Cpt. Smithwick (De) is instantly suspicious and sets about bellowing and bouncing at the interlopers until he can get some answers.
After the saboteurs tie up the medical staff in sickbay (which seems to particularly disturb Smithwick), the crew hunts them down and rounds/beats them up...to be told haha, jk, this was just a test and guess what, your best wasn’t good enough. But hey, at least we all learned something here today.
Note: The pinky ring is noticeably absent here; De’s character has what looks like a regular wedding band instead.
