#combat is boring

so over the last few months, I've once again been running 5e, specifically, I've been running Lost Mine Of Phandelver using the Starter set rules from fucken 2014, I say using the rules, but other than occasionally looking stuff, up I'm more or less just following the adventure path (it is very handholdy) but like I trust the players to know how their characters work, or at least can help each other with their characters (as a group we've been playing together {bar one of us} since like 2019 - I'm not the usual GM), like my regard for the rules has more or less been eh I know how dnd works, if it matters I can look it up, otherwise I don't care, which I think is the crux of the matter

The problem with being a plot/puzzle focused player

COMBAT IS BORING AS FUCK. Urrrrrggggggggggggggggg. We've been fighting shit in the most boring I-can't-puzzle-fight-this way for like four hours. There have been no breaks for plot or anything interesting. AND NO ALCOHOL TO MAKE THIS MORE INTERESTING.
