I’m not a great pianist, so there was a bit of (MIDI) editing involved here and there. But for the most part, this is entirely improvised. The chords at the start were thought out ahead of time, but everything else was flying by the seat of my pants.
Also, I recorded these as a single improvisation, but then separated them because I realized how very different they sounded. But this is honestly just the way my subconscious works.
Can you spot the Evangelion reference? I recently re-watched the series and couldn't resist the homage.
This is the final boss battle, against the almighty Chaos, from Final Fantasy 1 (1987, NES). This is an original orchestration based on the PSX/GBA remakes' music.
I uploaded a version before, but I wanted to raise the piano by an octave and... well I got carried away and replaced most of the instruments with new versions. Also the choir now includes my voice! So that's fun.
