soul2spirit

a term and flag for those who are both two-spirit and soulaani, or those who are afro-indigenous, and identify as two-spirit.

two-spirit - a contemporary identity within american native and first nations culture for those who embody both masculine and feminine spirits, or exist outside of the binary gender identities. while based in historical pre-colonial non-binary gender expressions, two-spirit was coined to replace offensive colonial labels after the loss and erasure of original ones.

soulaani - a contemporary identity for black and or african americans who are the descendants of chattel slavery in the us. a cultural movement focused on highlighting black american culture/history and their contributions to american culture/history particularly within the south. soulaan was coined to honor the importance of soul within black american culture.

afro-indigenous - a combination identity that encompasses all who have both african and indigenous roots. this term is often used within the us to refer to those who have both african and north american native ancestry, black natives, freedmen within indigenous communities, and mixed groups.

the dark purple stripe represents the rich history of both heritages and the dignity in preserving both together

the light purple stripe represents the intersection of both soulaani and indigenous spirituality

Romae/Romaesthetic: a combination term that pairs romantic and aesthetic attraction together.

This term can be used to center one's aesthetic attraction over one's sexual attraction or to describe a split-attraction between sexual attraction and romantic/aesthetic attraction.

Someone who is biromaesthetic, for example, might be monosexual or asexual, or they may be prioritizing their biaesthethic attraction over their bisexual attraction. 

This term is being coined for usefulness above all else so the circumstances in which it can be used may broaden with time. Anyone who finds use in this term can use it, it is not meant to be exclusive.

Dorétoile is a term for when one is both Duostellar and Aurimellan - one’s orientation is mono-spec, m-spec, fluid, and not fluid. 

Etymology and Inspiration:

I took inspiration from the gold part of Aurimellan and the star part of Duostellar, conflating it into a one-word version of the phrase “golden star” in French. Doré = golden. Étoile = star.
