I know I say this a lot, and it is sort of in bad taste considering you really can't controll it but: DON'T HAVE ASTHMA!
I woke up this morning, and I had a sharp pain in my lungs right below my collar bones. It's the sore, burning pain that you can also get if you over use a muscle, i.e. inflammation.
The inhaler only makes it easier to breathe, me jittery and my heart beat quickly. It doesn't fix the painful inflammation or the congestion that clings to my lungs, resulting in me taking quick breaths in order to get enough air.
The medicine that helps it is prednisone, which of course, interacts with metformin, causing spikes in blood sugar, rapid heart beat and intense agitation. The time I have thus referred to as almost dying was a result of an er doc giving me cortisone without warning me of the interaction. So that's bad! It might be better than not being able to breathe though...
I need to go to a doctor (after work, that is) and get either that or the gel albuetrol for the nebulizer.
So yes: asthma sucks.
EDIT: Combivent and Metformin interact too. No wonder I've felt shakey and like my heart was racing this week. I'm done.
Dear Universe,
When you are sticking people with chronic diseases, please consider the interactions of the drugs needed to relieve the symptoms. I think I speak for many people who suffer with this problem.
Thanks,
Amy
