Fred Willard, the comedic actor renowned for his roles in films encompassing âBest in Showâ and âThis is Spinal Tapâ and TV sitcoms âEverybody Loves Raymondâ and Modern Familyâ has passed away.
On Friday, the star died peacefully âat the fantastic age of 86 years old,â Hope Mulbarger â his daughter â confirmed.
"He kept moving, working and making us happy until the very end. We loved him so very much! We will miss him forever," Mulbarger stated.
Fred Willardâs death comes after nearly two years of the passing of his wife, Mary Willard, at the age of 50 who died in 2018 when she was 71 years old.
The personality who grew up in Ohio, the four-time Emmy nominee spread joy through his talent for making people laugh. His work comprised comedies such as âA Mighty Windâ and Waiting for Goffman,â as well as off-Broadway productions encompassing Jules Feifferâs âLittle Murders,â Dan Greenburgâs âArt and the Great Airplane Snatch,â and Mary Willardâs âElvis and Juliet.â
During a 2006 interview with Tad Friend of New Yorker Magazine, Willard defined his understanding on death stating, "If it was up to me, nothing would ever change, no one would ever die. On the other hand," he added, "then no one could have babies, either, because it would get too crowded."
Tributes was shared by multiple actors, filmmakers, comedians who were touched by Fred Willardâs artistic work and performance on social media honoring the late actor.
"One of my favorite lines in a movie ever was delivered by Fred Willard in BEST IN SHOW, after a naughty dog went after the judge: "He went after her like she was made of ham." This man was so brilliant and he elevated the flicks and TV shows in which he popped up. RIP, Funny Man!" filmmaker Kevin Smith stated on Twitter.
