Karen Hulse: Missing Rover
Karen wrote “I remember hearing about Philae being lost and eventually found in the shadow of a large boulder. I could not imagine what everyone on the team went through, but hearing the good news eventually and seeing the images on Flickr was so exciting.”
Karen Hulse is a vfx expert, photographer, and occasional cartoonist based in New Zealand. Starting out with a small cartoon animation studio in Snells Beach working on some small straight to dvd Veggietale projects, she eventually wound up with a big vfx studio in Wellington helping light and render blockbuster movies such as Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Iron Man 3 and the Hobbit trilogy in the shots department.

All proceeds from this album will be used to support open use of sound and sonification of space exploration. RELEASE: FRANCESCO NOVARA – ASTRON EP [Establishment]

Francesco Novara was born in a small city out of Venice, and gave up a first dream of art restoration to focus on music. After ten years at the music department of the storied Fabrica research center, Novara has made a name as a prodigious composer, from documentary soundtracks to advertising – and composed music for a launch of an ESA satellite.
Rosetta Legacy Spot Prize winners - Week 3 (20–26 September 2016)
Dear followers & contributors,
As you can imagine, we’ve been quite busy last week with Rosetta’s End of Mission last Friday, but we have certainly not forgotten about the spot prize winners of the Rosetta Legacy!
Check out below if you’ve won a Rosetta & Philae plush toy (submissions from week 3) and we’ll announce winners from week 4 (27 Sept–3 Oct, so including today!) later in the week.
And... if you haven’t contributed yet, please let us know what the mission means to you and how it has influenced you, your friends and family by posting your Rosetta story, image or video on this tumblr!!! The campaign will run until Friday 7 October.
The next set of spot prize winners, who will be awarded a Rosetta & Philae plush toy, are:
* Ríona Stokes and her inspirational story about dreaming to become the first Irish astronaut: The Sky Can’t Be The Limit, When We’ve Footprints On The Moon
* Andrew Manson for his epic music composition dedicated to Rosetta’s final descent: “Rosetta and the Comet”
(Also available on Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/andrewmanson/rosetta-and-the-comet)
* Kristen Fredriksen and her Rosetta-inspired nail art:
* Silas Philae Reimer (and his parents who named him after the lander!):
* Mattia Barbarossa and his moving story about his grandfather: Rosetta, il mio ultimo ricordo di mio nonno (in Italian)
Thanks to all for the amazing contributions! Best wishes, ~~ The Rosetta Legacy Team
Rosetta’s mission has come to an end and this is the final video of the “Once upon a time...”-series that had been produced throughout from the awakening of the probe on. It’s a real tear jerker... *sniff* No, I’m not crying... *sniff* *sniff* *cries* (and please watch till the end) [and I’d suggest you to watch the previous videos (here’s the playlist in English) as well to learn more about this probe and her mission :) ]
And this is the final image that Rosetta has taken, mere 20m above the ground.
The European Space Agency’s Rosetta spacecraft is set to make a 'controlled crash' onto the surface of a comet after a 12-year mission. Rosetta, the first sp...
