Hi auntie Jilli! I was wondering something. I’ve been kind of giving up lately in how I look. It’s just kind of easier to put in sweat pants and a band tee shirt and it feels like I’m kind of drifting from my goth roots which I’m really sad about. How do I put more effort into my outfits?

I know those feels? Some days it is HARD to wear anything but extremely comfy clothing.

If you’re okay with more feminine styling, look for stretch velvet. Tops, oversized shirts, leggings, dresses, skirts, and so on. Stretch velvet is washable (ignore the “dry clean only” tags, they’re a lie), and incredibly comfy. 

Black dresses in some sort of stretchy fabric + tights = an outfit! That feels like pajamas!

For those who prefer a more masculine look ... um ... oversized black or stripy sweaters worn with comfy trousers? I’m at a loss, because most of the goth guys I know wear leggings and oversize shirts or sweaters when they want to be comfortable. 

If you’re a makeup wearing creature, put on a dusting of translucent powder, do your eyebrows, and put on some mascara. It’ll make you feel slightly more put together.
