I keep starting
Today Witch's Quarry is up to page 38. Check it out!
I keep starting to write snippets and half way through it's just too damn long to go without editing. So again, it gets stuffed in my saved drafts.
This morning was another anime/manga debate. I feel weird sometimes defending it, because all though it's a very strong influence to my work, it's mostly due to WHEN it influenced my work. I don't really read much manga or watch any anime anymore. When I first started drawing and writing human characters, I was in middle school and discovered RPGs and Ranma 1/2. These were the most influential to the aesthetic of my characters because I was just developing at the time. I was reading a lot of fantasy novels, so those inspired my writing and ideas.
Now a days, I don't know how I feel about the popularity of the genre. I think my own work, content wise, doesn't really fit into the well established anime troupes. I don't want to force a change in my style, but I have a hard time defending it. It's not really superior to any other style people would label as a "knock off". All I can say in the end was that I didn't consciously choose to make it "manga/anime" to fit in with a certain crowd or gain popularity.
Not really sure why I happen to get into this debate today or why I sensing some hate for the style from artists of other styles. It's probably just a coincidence mediated by my verbal sparring partner.
I joined a forum recently to explore my love of fantasy. They had a thread on the comic making process, so I thought I'd re-post it here.
