Finished a concept sheet with Steve and Shaf✨✨ I had like SO much fun with this! Sooo obviously calls for a little ramble
It was so random too, I just got a vision for Steve’s design out of nowhere that was pretty damn different from what I had in mind before. That design is still gonna pop up in the plot, but this is Mr. Harrington in his true element~! Sweetest way to say why I love this more: I can actually imagine him smiling :3
It began ‘cause I stumbled upon a video of a Mane Wolf and absolutely FELL for the energy. They’re so dorky and adorable despite their size and it just felt so Steve core for my iteration. Aaaand then decided the design needed to have some of that influence. Originally it was gonna be a PJ set, but it inspired a whole new area for his personality, so it’s the main design now! It’s crazy how much it helps giving them an animal to relate to, both in the writing and art area of design.
Speaking of, Shaf got an upgrade! I really thought her design was set in stone, but the story shifted a bit along with her personality, so I had to update the design to fit anyway! It’s a lot less shameless about being soft and fluffy while still keeping her sharper sides, taking a lot of inspo from Barn Owls. The sleeves are puffier, the hair is fluffier, etc. And yeah, while I loved the chunky heels, I did swap them out for sleek ankle boots I was weak but they fit a lot better! I also added in a lot more white and brown to mimic the barn owl (and the spotted pattern on females) which was a very fun contrast from Salena’s design!
And finally, I’m wearing glasses :D Took me a while, but I’ve started to accept my glasses—I wear them irl, but never knew how to incorporate them in a design because they never felt like me. Recently, I got a pair that felt very fitted, and I finally got the courage to add them in. I like them a lot~
Last thing: I tested out more of the style and colors on this one! Really in love with it; I think it’s at least close to the final style, if not perfect. I think it’s a beautiful Technicolor vibe. I’m glad I’m taking my time with it! The rendering is slower, but I’m enjoying the process and I value that more than speed. I’m also pretty sure these are gonna be the finalized colors for these two unless they go through some minor changes.
