first Steve Rogers: Captain America comic has been published and dude who wrote it made him a hydra member for attention and marketing. that was supposed to be big shocking plot twist.
thing is that steve rogers is a character that has been created by two jewish men and the fact that this man made him into nazi sympathizer erased every single good thing he has ever done and mocked the creators who created this very character as a symbol of hope and freedom. marvel said we will think of every interaction he has ever had with anyone, his friends included, and that we will not be sure if it was him deceiving and going deeply undercover or if it was genuine affection.
bucky barnes was tortured and brainwashed by hydra for decades, turned into a weapon, begged steve to kill him for what he has done. sharon has been tortured by hydra too.
people are upset because steve is a political character with strong beliefs and has always stood his ground and fought for the right cause and now just for the sake of marketing and attention he is everything he fought against.
this is a cheap trick well played by marvel that mocked very people who created one of its most iconic characters and people are right to be furious.

Bleh, couldn’t we have skipped that issue and carried on with the actual story arc? Maggie deserved better than being made a thinly vieled renee replacement. I really feel that the whole Catholicism angle was shoe-horned in there to add similar depth to her character as Renee, ie trying to completely replace her and 'placate' those of us who want montoya back. NO. Remember this?  Seriously though, I didn’t really enjoy the issue at all because all of those issues felt like they’d already been covered within the pre-52 KatexRenee arc. And I know I’m supposed to consider the DCU and DC52 universes separately but since they didn’t actually alter Kate’s origin story after the first time and the new series follows directly from Elegy, its hard to separate them. And there’s no reason for Gotham Central to have been retconned. Seriously you can cut a character out of your reboot, but don’t try to replace them by writing similarities into another character already established to be in a different position and diferent personality wise. That just isn’t fair on the fans who have been with these characters since before the reboot and importantly the fucking talented ass writers who you should appreciate for their marvelous work even if it is no longer relevant to the ‘now’. Or I’m just a bitter and loyal Renee Montoya fan. And this is the first issue of this wonderful comic I’ve had an issue with. And I’m calm.
