The thing about when we went to Ghana is that you see a lot of footage about it, but you can’t really convey what it is on screen. You can show people unwell, you can show people dying, but you don’t really get it until you go there. All your senses are taken over by what’s going on. You can’t really express the mixture of emotions that kind of come up with that… It’s just the ultimate sense of perspective; your vision gets wider.

Acrostic for Julia Bird (Nanobots)

Julia, I think less of them as tiny robots, more like ultra violet light. Less metallic than 'robot' sounds. Like benevolent fluid! Steamed flannels at dinner! Indecently discreet but so numerous, it seemed as though they were in charge of our throbbing pulse. Meticulous, like a house freshly cleaned – so nifty. And inside us, not even nudging cells! Reasons to live #1: the nanobots met you and the nanobots met me. You can’t take that away – we’re non-perishable in that respect. Broken birds could get nanobot wings. Just think - in the beehive, floorboards, floating in your ears! Right now there’s nothing nanobots can’t improve! Don’t say we dreamt them.
