in my mind, each of the rfa members are totally detached from their bodies and emotions, and their story lines are (not blatantly, but kinda) about them coming back into themselves.
jumin has to learn how to unmask and actually feel his emotions, as well as express them.
zen must learn to sit in uncomfortable moments and conversation without turning to outside stimuli, or avoiding them.
yoosung has to process his grief and learn that sadness is a valid and important thing to be felt, not numbed.
jaehee has to actually feel her exhaustion and the toll it’s taking, and learn how to embody a “no.”
seven must examine his guilt in leaving saeran, and how he has harmed himself bc of that guilt.
they each just kind of have to learn how to take care of themselves, and what it means to love themselves. this is why i think communal love is so strong—although mc’s love + relationship with them is what kind of initiates their journeys, their friendships with each other are also essential to them choosing themselves for the first time.
it’s only when they start to wake up after a lifetime of hating themselves, that they can really see and appreciate all of the people that have been loving them. and then they’re able to finally give that love back to themselves, and begin treating themselves like a true friend <3
