@jade4813 just killed me. Officially. 😍
I need the "As long as I remember Iris, I'll be alright" line from Barry the longer he's in the SF. In the Rebirth comic when he went back in the SF, he kept saying the line over and over as his memories were fading away. Then he didn't remember her name, but he was still aware of her. He was like "God, no. What was her name?" Thawne had to remind him as he planned to kill her again. Barry came back in time, of course.
Awww, yeah, I did see that comic strip some time ago. It’d be amazing if we got something like that. 😍
Barry said "My Iris" when he came back from the dead in the comics. I will die and never get resurrected if he does the same when he gets back. Hell, if we even get something similar to "As long as I remember Iris, I'll be alright", it's great, too. But the show doesn't want to be great sometimes.
*sigh* It’s true (about the last part). But I hope they do employ these lines (or at least one of them) at some point. They’re too good not to. (the lines, not the writers, lmao - though when they want to be, they actually are good at what they do.)
I don't think the writers would ever discuss this or bring this up, but in the comics, it was confirmed by Wally that Iris does have the metahuman gene, but it is dormant. But it also contains a special thing. During childbirth, the offspring would have 50% chance of carrying either parent's traits. But with the gene she had, her children would have the metahuman traits if the father is also a meta. And since Barry is a meta, her twins will 100% be metas, too.
Ohhh, that is very cool, Anon, I could actually see them mentioning that in the show. Even if it’s a lot less likely that they won’t. Lol.
To add to what the anon said about Iris and the gene she had, said gene also acts as a magnet to the SF. And since Barry already loved her before he became the Flash in the comics, the lightning within him reacts to her.
Awww, I think I’ve seen some people say something to that effect (& certainly read that concept in fics:
“God yeah,” he leans into her touch and she can feel the electricity humming under his skin, she’s sure. Barry Allen may be largely in the dark right now but The Flash knows exactly who she is.’ -her own finite time by @gnimaerd …comes to mind)
And yeah, I absolutely LOVE that. 😍
When Barry came back to life in the comics, he did walk through the door or their home. With Wally, mind you. He was like "Honey, it's me." But Iris was mind-controlled by Darkseid. He said "My Iris. I've waited lifetimes for this". His kiss freed her from the spell and they reunited. It was beautiful. 😭
Awww, that does sound amazing. As much as I’d love that though, I hope *we* don’t have to wait lifetimes of them being separated from each other. XD
