#JackedKirby - Xemnu, The Hulk BEFORE The Hulk! 💥💥💥 I have an irrational love for Jack’s early monster and sci-fi work at Atlas/Marvel in the late 50’s/early 60’s... it’s just so awesome and the creatures are great! But anyone remember that time Kirby drew a Hulk before The Hulk was even created? 💥💥💥 This is Xemnu The Living Hulk, the creature of the month in Journey Into Mystery #Issue62 from November of 1960. This alien monster had the “Hulk” moniker before Bruce Banner... and an 11 foot tall frame to back it up! Xemnu has mind control powers to go along with his bulky frame, and he used them throughout the two part story in the JIM issue. Great! 💥💥💥 I’ve been thinking of Xemnu a lot since he has been prominently featured in the most recent Immortal Hulk run by Al Ewing (writer) and Joe Bennett (artist) as seen in Pic 3 of this post... and done masterfully by Alex Ross for the cover of that series (pic 4). Three current creators who were obviously influenced by and love The King’s creations! 💥💥💥 #JackKirby #KingKirby #Kirby #Xemnu #XemnuTheLivingHulk #JourneyIntoMystery #Comic #Comics #ComicBook #ComicBooks #IGComics #ImmortalHulk #AlEwing #JoeBennett #AlexRoss #60sComics #ComicsOfThe1960s https://www.instagram.com/p/B_7xi-rBXV4/?igshid=ej1yxokgfsf5
