Even as a little boy I thought it was bizarre how you literally had to drive through the factory of Cominco in order to enter the town of Trail, British Columbia.

Back in those days, there was only one reason to go there.

John's Books.

They had thousands of old Archie Digests. Carl Barks comics from Dell and Gold Key. Old Mad Magazines. Second hand National Lampoons. Serigo Aragones and Don Martin paperbacks. Family Circus paperbacks. In fact all manner of paperbacks.

They all had a thick jiffy marker price scribbled right on the front cover of all of them.

You'd walk out of there with stacks and stacks and stacks of cheap comics, books and magazines.

It was a childhood.
