Some images of my final designs from my recent photoshoot in the uni photography studio. I’m really pleased with these photos, I think the white backgrounds work really well to reflect the calming concept underpinning my project. I plan to use this style photography for an promotion or anything that is representative of my project as a whole.

I Am A Weaver
The past three years have taught me so much, I have met some amazing people within the industry and many more students that are passionate about what they do. I am a Weaver, and I absolutely adore what I do. I love yarns, I love the arts, the museums I visit and the work that goes into my designs. The past three years have allowed me to grow as a creative personality. However, there is still one thing I don't really understand, and that is the stereotypical opinions of the degree that I do (and quite possibly most creative subjects). People seem to think Textile Design is about sewing clothes. Just clothes, or maybe the odd cushion (which in itself requires much skill and determination). Quite frankly, that stereotype is dated. The textile industry is making huge leaps and bounds in the areas of weave, knit, print, stitch and smart textiles. It is something huge and thrilling to be a part of: there's the fashion industry, the interiors industry and all the little niches and fabulous things in between. We don't all just sit there sewing clothes together, we create the designs to go onto your future clothes, crockery, car interiors, upholstery, soft furnishings and so much more than what many fail to realise! Weave, Print, Stitch and Knit are art forms within themselves. If people like me and millions of others in the world didn't do what we were passionate about, the world you live in would be a dull and uninteresting place. Hours and hours of thought, drawings, sketching, sampling, re-sampling and work go into designs. Blood, sweat, tears and money go into designing a lot of the items you have around you. I cannot wait to graduate and I will be proud to call myself a weaver, someone who transform singular strands of yarn into constructed fabrics. I will be proud of what I've done and what everyone has done at my college. I just wish the world would advocate the creative subjects more, instead of just passing them off as 'useless' or 'a waste of public spending.' The world of art & design is all around you! So next time you think of textiles about just making clothes for fashion, or cushions for interiors, just pause for a second and look at nearly everything around you. A designer has been there and done that...
Communicative Illustrations
Now I have achieved a secure process for both material recipes, that I know will work overtime, I decided to draw out a communicative illustration for both that describes the process from beginning to end.
