I'm not saying Cody isn't a stickler for protocol and rules. He is. I 100% believe that's where his name comes from. (Cody/Code).
But.
I also 100% believe that this man is capable of breaking every single rule in the book if it means getting more of his people out of sticky situations alive.
Like give me a Cody who is bent on the rules because rules save lives. Rules are there for a reason. Protocol is there for a reason.
However. When faced with an enemy that acts irrational or in a way that the rules would cause more casualties? You bet your ass all rules go out the window. Kriff protocol. He has a duty to keep the people around him alive and that is what he is going to do.
Idk. I don't think he'd do it willy nilly or chaotically like Rex, no it's very calculated. But I do absolutely believe he is that kind of person. I mean he body slammed grievous, I can't imagine there's a protocol for that one.

All right... I have thoughts, they're a little scattered, so please bare with me lol
First off, I subscribe heavily to the idea that 'Cody' is actually 'Kote', and it just became Cody overtime because that's what non-clones were hearing and repeating.
As far as how he got it... Man has been absolutely fearless from the moment he gained consciousness. 'Challenge Accepted' is pretty much his default personality trait. He earned the moniker 'glory' with every fiber of his being.
This is also why he got assigned to Obi-Wan, their crazy balances each other out.
With Rex... I haven't put a whole lot of thought on how he got his name. But I did find this option absolutely hilarious.
But, where Cody was fearless growing up, ready and willing to run head first in to anything regardless of the consequences (you know... like yeeting yourself at Grievous and just hoping for the best (no, we are never letting him live that down)); I see Rex being a lot more like Echo in the beginning. Or even Dogma
(which I'm pretty sure he compared himself to, yes?)
Man knows his regulations backwards and forwards, and it took him a long time to get comfortable working around the rules instead of just adhering to them to the letter.
(Working under Anakin was a bit of a baptism by fire, but he survived and came out the other side.)
I'm dropping by with some loosey-goosey HCs about that club I mentioned in passing that Cody and the commanders like to frequent!
First off, I LOVE 79’s so so much! But it’s one club on a huuuuge planet, and there are so many clones! I want to believe that there are at least a few other clubs on Coruscant that cater to the clones (and maybe more scattered across the Republic too!)

The club they visit is smaller and a little more exclusive than 79's. Where 79’s has a reputation for getting a bit rough and rowdy, this place is more chill and intimate.
Maybe it’s a privately owned and operated business, and the owner(s) get a tax break or something if they serve troops? Or maybe they get funding through a publicly supported organization that supports clone’s rights??? So many options here!
Either way, this place isn’t known for wild drinking and shenanigans. Clones of all rank are allowed there, but they do have to behave themselves 😅
It’s got a few distinct sections: a live music venue on one level, ample seating areas, and an open dance floor.
I’m picturing a dark and moody vibe… lots of dark woods, red velvets, shimmering golds, the warm glow of mood lighting, and the soft murmur of intimate conversations mingled with chill music.
There’s lots of cozy conversation corners/nooks as well as large seating areas for groups.
It’s a great place to relax and have a good conversation because you can actually hear the people you’re talking to without having to shout over the music.
They serve only the highest quality liquors, so it’s more about enjoying the drink rather than getting blasted (although that’s still an option so long as nobody causes any problems 😅)
As far as the music goes, it varies from night to night... sometimes there's live jazz or blues, sometimes it's a DJ playing some chill tunes. Sometimes the dance floor is packed and other times it's just a few couples taking advantage of the space.

I'm so excited that you sent me these because I've been so intrigued with this other bar idea since you posted the Messy Cody™ headcanons! While the introduction to 79's in TCW S6 was absolutely a cultural reset for the clone simp community, there has to be more clone-friendly bars and clubs on Coruscant. (Something I was thinking about recently is how Star Wars uses planets how we would use countries, and it makes me forget just how big entire planets are sometimes, as dumb as it sounds 😅 it's impossible that there's only one clone bar on the entire planet of Coruscant for millions of clones 😂)

I love this idea. I know for a FACT that, realistically, I wouldn't survive in 79's for more than 5 minutes—if that—because of how loud and overwhelming it is (seeing that clip in TBB S2E6 where 79's was quieted down with Riyo Chuchi and the group of clones talking about clone rights was nice to see!). Justice for the quieter clones who actually want to chill in a calmer setting 🫡

As for GAR personnel, I also think commando squads would be drawn there too because of how hectic, dangerous, and unpredictable their missions are (think Delta Squad, Omega Squad, CF99, etc.). They know this place is has a reliably chiller atmosphere than 79's. It's the place for more introverted clone troopers because the anxieties that 79's present—too many people, too loud, too hot and sweaty—don't exist at this bar/club.

Hey! I hope you’re doing well too. I’ve been a little busy, so not a lot of writing has been getting done. I am planning some fluff things though and hope to get those published soon. I also have a Rebels fic to edit and I’m hoping my inspiration for Cody strikes up again soon.
I’ve included the headcanons below the cut, because yeah. 18+, minors DNI. I’ll throw you into a sarlac pit if you do.
I have a few favorites for this.
1. Cody is a pro at eating pussy. He’s very particular about the details in his job and that translates over to this task at hand, he pays attention to everything and makes sure he takes his time.
2. He’s definitely the dominant one, although with some restrictions and specifics. 100% a pleasure dom. Cody will shower you with praises when you’re doing well but maker have mercy if you decide to be a brat.
3. He’s open to trying new things if it’s discussed beforehand. This doesn’t mean he will try any and everything, but he’s open to discussion.
4. Cody loves lingerie almost as much as he loves seeing his partner naked, but don’t be tacky by wearing his units colors. Wear your colors, the ones you look good in and he might find himself thinking about it later when he sees the color elsewhere.
5. Aftercare king. Cody is a gentleman, through and through.
Cody is scared to admit that he’s not quite ready for the war to end
Don’t get him wrong he’s so tired of watching his brothers die, But atleast within the GAR he knows his purpose. He knows who he is.
And yeah this might be a result of the military, but outside of being COMMANDER Cody, right hand of High Jedi General Kenobi, leader of the 212th Attack Battalion…He’s doesn’t what else there is to him, or what life looks like trying to figure it out
Within the war he doesn’t have to worry about anything besides the next moment, and then the next. He doesn’t have to worry about figuring out the inner machinations of his mind or his soul.
Sure there might be something amazing waiting for him post war, but at the same time he’s heard the rumblings of the senate. Of the Kaminoans. He knows just as well there could be something bad.
Too many variables, too many possibilities. Easier to go on as he has.
He’d also never admit to being a little jealous of Rex.
Nothing sinister, the Captain was one of his closest brothers. A damn good soldier and a good man.
But just from being a slightly lower rank and fighting in a smaller battalion, Cody can see how close Rex is to his men. He easily switches between being their superior and being their friend, and his men can easily switch from being his friend to being his troops.
Not that Cody doesn’t consider his men his friends, but from spending so much with the general and having so many more men under his command, he struggles switching between the two. And he can tell his men don’t relax as much around him as Rex’s do.
He kinda envies the camaraderie.
Post War:
Cody remembers order 66, and he remembers how he felt before it. He’s reticent to talk about to anyone, especially now that Rex is seemingly dead. He knows something in him changed.
Sometimes there are moments after the war where he feels like himself again. Quiet moments in the barracks or when he sees his brothers good around in their spare time- a rarer and rarer occasion
In those moments he could almost hear General Kenobi’s snarky commentary that would come, and when it didn’t… he found himself missing it.
It was always brief, the sad feeling without his former life and then the regret of turning on the Jedi.
And moments later it would be gone and Imperial Commander 2224 would go about his day, proud to be apart of the Empire that squashed the Jedi Rebellion

Rex:
- He borrowed a data pad from you and was coming back to your quarters to drop it off.- He opened the door without knocking. - “Hey, Y/N, I just wanted to give you -.” - You’re literally right in the middle of changing clothes and you freeze and try to cover yourself as Rex curses and quickly turns away. - “Kriff, sithspit, I’m sorry, Y/N.” - he tries to back out of the room and stumbles, blushing furiously. - He finally just gives up and turns and faces the wall, still embarrassed as all hell.
Cody:
- You had just stepped out of the refresher. - Cody at least had the common sense to knock. - Except you weren’t thinking and you said “come in” right as you started to drop your towel. - Poor guy didn’t even make it all the way into the room before you both started yelling in a panic. - “Oh Kriff!” // “Get out!” // “You said to come in!!” // “I didn’t mean it!” // “How is that MY fault?!”- You both think it’s funny once the initial embarrassment wares off.
Fives:
- He’s a little shit and we all know it. - He’s visiting you at your apartment and knows DAMN WELL You’re in the shower, and he waits for you in your bedroom. - You step out of the bathroom and get the shit scared out of you because “WHEN THE FUCK DID YOU GET HERE?” - He’s lucky you didn’t shoot him tbh- Even as you’re whacking him with a pillow he’s still laughing and telling you what a great ass you have.
Wolffe:
- He’d heard you were wounded, and was coming to check on you. - He found your bed and pulled back the curtain to see you sitting up, completely shirtless, trying to wrap bandages around your torso on your own. - At first you think he’s the medic. “Hey, can you help me finish-.” - Then you turn and see it’s Wolffe and you’ve never in your life seen the stoic Commander reduced to a blushing stuttering mess but here we are. - He trips on his own feet in his haste to turn away. - You calm him down, assure him it’s fine, and he ends up staying and helping you wrap yourself up, leaving little kisses along your exposed shoulders and mumbling apologies under his breath.
