Listen, I'm a simple gay.
Commander Quaille (mirror pronouns)
The version of tyria Quaille exists in is one where the dragons dying is a far more immediate drawback than usual. The magical blast that gets sent out is volatile, equivalent to a bomb that increases in severity with more magic that's bottled up. Each kill leaves a fallout zone saturated so heavily with that dragons elemental magic that it's uninhabitable for generations. Just breathing the air could earn anyone lasting effects and a minor infection that could grow worse enough to turn you into a minion if not tended to.
Being at ground zero during an elder dragons death is almost certain death for any civilians and soldiers. As such, after Zhaitan the method has become clearing the area completely once the dragon is weak, and leaving only the Commander within the blast zone to finish the job. Only one person need shoulder this burden.
As such, Quaille has acquired a medically frightening number of comorbidities both clinging to life and trying to kill it:
"Come sit with me a while."
"You sure that's smart?"
"Hasn't mattered before."
Thinks about Quaille being at ground zero with everyone when the first dragon death went horribly wrong, when they all got more than they bargained for.
Thinks about Quaille waking up as one of the few survivors and realizing that this was a task far beyond what anyone expected...
Thinks about Quaille in the med bay for the fifth checkup that month...the long-term effects need to be monitored, it wouldn't be hard to die from this even years later.
Thinks about Quaille deciding that...if it's fucked anyways, may as well be the one who handles the rest of the dragons too.
Thinks about Quaille making sure the Pact evacuates Maguuma before it strikes the final blow, again its vision going white and waking up badly injured in a wasteland...not of decay, but greenery this time. Quaille can't move, laying there until the Pact chances a rescue carefully. The ones who got it out still suffer lifelong side effects too.
Thinks about Quaille getting a tag-along weird Sylvari who's weirdly intrigued by all of this. A plant who looks on the brink of death and decay herself at every waking moment.
Thinks about Quaille going after a third dragon, getting the area evacuated again. Things go white, things go dark... and Quaille wakes up in its own bed with that strange sylvari sitting beside them.
Thinks about finding the only other living being that can match your martyr freak as you keep trying to save the world.
*grabs you* Gimme that Mildew mystery lore please and thank you
I feel like I've given yall SO MUCH of their trivia already but! I will give more! After all, look at how cute they are. They deserve it uvu
The two are Bad To Smell in an enclosed space. Concentrated magical radiation and rotting plants. They're genuinely a nauseating experience, do NOT hold meetings without ventilation.
It took Quaille a little time to come around to a romance with Terizzi, but in the end it made sense and the feelings were there. It realized it wasn't really going to have another chance to find someone who won't die from prolonged exposure. The two do love each other dearly, but there's a convenience about this too.
Quaille bonks its respirator on Terizzi as a facsimile of a kiss whenever the urge hits, and in response Terizzi will ruffle her hair or kiss her hand.
Terizzis bugs is irradiated :)
6, 11, 16 for Mildew!!!!!!! gimme the juicy details
Juicy mildew coming up ;3c
6. What made them become a couple? What keeps them together?
The moment that made them a couple was when Terizzi would no longer stand by and just watch Quaille deal with the fallout after a dragon kill alone. When she went into the active blast zone from kralkatorrik to carry them out rather than waiting for it to be safe enough for a rescue party. For the first time after a victory, Quaille woke up in its bed instead of on the ground in hostile land. And it was because Terizzi cared enough to change things.
That same care goes a long way to keeping them together, the fact that they're two of a kind but they can be like that with someone who won't be hurt worse for it.
11. Have they ever hurt each other, be it physically or emotionally, intentionally or accidentally?
Oh absolutely. Verbally and emotionally the most, fights in that house aren't great. Terizzi has tried multiple times to get Quaille to retire. Especially once the dragon cycle had ended. But love isn't enough to fix the fucked up mentality that Quaille has on saving the world at the cost of its body. So they fight about it.
These fights get vile at times with Terizzi leaning into how Quaille is falling apart, she once did snatch its respirator off its face and held it out of reach to try and make her point. Other times Quaille will dig into how Terizzi is probably only so obsessed with it because she'll never get to touch another of her own kind without killing them herself. They love each other dearly, but the intimacy does mean it's that much easier to know how to hit hard when you want to.
16. How much do they actually trust each other? Was their trust ever broken? Can it be mended?
They trust each other immensely. There is no doubt in either of them that the other would leave them hanging, and anything right or wrong will be said out loud for them both to hear and process. Trust is what upholds this whole relationship, no matter how bad things get or how awful a fight is.
If that was broken it would be devastating, and no I don't think they could mend it. That would be the end of a lot of hard work ._.
Give me that Mildew angst with 8, 11, and 17!!
YIPPEE MILDEW ANGST~
8. What would it take for them to break up?
It would take one of them dying honestly. Even if things were to go drastically south, Terizzi is one of the only people who can physically survive prolonged time around Quaille without acquiring new chronic side effects. And Quaille is so badly touch starved because of that fact. The relationship could go to hell in a hand basket, and Quaille would still pull Terizzi to its bed. And there'd be a very real chance of her using that to her advantage of she was so inclined. Thankfully Terizzi is kinder than that...

17. Is there a secret that they don't dare tell the other? Why? Will they ever say it?
Terizzi: She has lied about having her physical state under control. It's a lie she tells everyone, and part of it is just that the fact that she's barely managing her rot scares her and she feels like if anyone knew they would write her off as incapable and sickly. She is sickly yes, but she can still do some things, and can have good days where she can do more. It's very unlikely she'll ever verbally admit she's just getting by. No matter how much she trusts Quaille to listen.
Because what would admitting it change? Leaning on someone else more? Haha, nah she doesn't need to listen to the criticisms she launched at Quaille :)

Thank youuuuuuu Audie in my time of need 🙏💖
OTP question meme
(Terizzi: she/her. Quaille: mirror pronouns)
1. Who is the most affectionate?
Quaille will at any time just lean on Terizzi or take her hand or bonk its head on her hip. Being essentially radioactive has left Quaille extremely touch starved and Terizzi is always open to affection if prompted by her partner uvu
4. Favorite non-sexual activity?
Sight seeing. They're not really great for social events, but both of them love a good view. Any time they're somewhere new, they make an effort to find a nice place with a lovely view where they can just relax and cuddle, the two of them~ It doesn't always happen, chronic illness will get them both in a bad way sometimes, but they always try when they can.
6. What is their favorite feature of their partner’s?
Terizzi: She loves Quailles eyes. She loves the determination in that little asuras gaze, and the one injury Quaille has that wasn't from the elder dragons directly. Even when Quaille wears her breathing mask, her eyes are an open book to what she's thinking.
Quaille: It loves the way Terizzi moves. There's a gracefulness to her, despite everything her bodys been through. (This is not wholly accurate, Terizzi is pretty shaky and can falter a lot, but Quaille is so fucking biased)
