You step foolishly to the dark.
What council do you pursuit?
When you stand alone, lost to the darkness and chaos around you.
This was your own hand leaving you blind.
You tried to summon what is better left in the dark.
The bottle that had often sat in the Commander's hand was now put down against the counter. Its contents sloshing for a moment as she stared at the liquid yet to be imbibed. There was a faraway look to her features as she wrestled with ignoring the questions or addressing them. Both shoulders would rise as she heaved out a heavy sigh and turned now to her speaker.
"A setback but not one that can't be corrected with regards to my family. We are not broken at the very least. And we can become something more within time."
Snorting lightly, she returned her hand to cusp about the bottle as she lifted and directed its open end towards her speaker.
"Power? I don't seek anything like that. It's an errand for those that seek more than their limits. And I know mine and can hone them as my sword and shield."
An idle rock of the bottle was made before the neck was tipped back and her mouth took hold of the end. More alcohol was dumped into her system given she had a rather eventful week. Not to mention those unsettling letters…
"The Sin'dorei have many notable figures who can offer insight and misdirection. But the wisdom I seek does not come so freely. To answer this question would be divulging a truth not many are ready to accept. Whether it be from a noble standpoint or an individual stance."
Now the bottle had become empty by this point, and it joined a collection of others on the counter. Their transparent surfaces empty and hollow but maintaining their shape. The last few lines of the speaker gave her pause yet again.
"It is the folly of those who misunderstand my intentions that will be led astray. But I stand by my choices as they bear no room for doubt and provide utmost clarity. Sometimes we have to take risks against what our nature demands we don't. And in every instance danger surfaces, consequences can be damned, because at least we have the courage to face our fears.
...But the one who is blind to these bold acts of mine is not me. I suppose when it comes to these confrontations, an act of salvation or sacrifice is not so easily understood or defined."
