Hmm, while you make a good point, the reason it happened in the first place in 616 is that he felt he had no choice. He didn't want to support it, but chose to in order to prevent worse things from happening, to be able to control it.
Oh, I get what you mean! He didn't, and MCU wouldn't either, but also I don't think the current situation in MCU could push Tony that way.
