Mal wanted to see Earth for himself. He couldn’t help but still feel the smallest ounce of skepticism. He half expected them to tell him this was all a joke. He was reluctantly to leave Serenity behind but he didn’t want his baby torn apart.
Setting foot on the Normandy was like entering a whole new world. Faith watched them stare around in wonder, Kaylee broke the awed silence, “Can’t I see the engine room?!”
“Can I see the cockpit pretty please?” Wash chimed in.
“Where’s the guns?” Jayne piped up.
“Commander? Perhaps we should give them a full tour? Tali suggested.
“Please don’t show the dumb one where the guns are,” Faith huffed, her arm was wrapped tightly arm Shepard.
She had easily assimilated with Jimmy’s friends. A cute blonde rich kid, and a feisty brunette that seemed a bit out of place here. They were a riot, and Shay was actually surprised by how easily she talked to them. They were the only ones she didn’t feel outta place around.
Shay was silently confused when everyone went silent, even Faith, stood. Shay had been sitting on the floor, and Jimmy was giving her a look, hissing at her to stand up. Jimmy stood at attention. Shay looked over her shoulder and saw a tall man in camo pants in a tan military t-shirt. His eyes seemed to zero in on her.
“Cadet, on your feet,” he snapped.
She sighed and drew all five feet of her to her feet and crossed her arms and arched an eyebrow. The attitude was almost dripping from her posture.
“What is your name?” he demanded loudly and a little too close for her comfort.
She took a step back from him and squared her shoulders, “Shahira L-...” she hesitated, and cleared her throat, “Shahira Shepard,” she wasn’t used to her new last name just yet.
“You’re a Shepard? Really?” he snorted, then his voice grew louder and he took two more steps closer, now in her face, “Cadet, you stand on your feet when your better walks into the room, if you have an ounce of respect you’d stand at full attention, until you are told to move again, you do not MOVE!, I don’t care if your classmates are droppin’ dead around you girl! You do not move!”
“Yo, okay look,” Shay tensed up and cracked her neck, “I don’t know where the fuck you’re from, but where I’m from you get in somebodies face, for two reasons, we either fuckin’ or fightin’ and your dick ain’t out, so you better back the fuck up, before I fuck your shit up.”
She heard Jimmy hissing her name behind her, “Oh excuse me, Back the fuck up...sir…”
“You wanna take a swing, Girl Shepard? go ahead! Take a swing, but girls don’t get special treatment here! Be prepared to pull my size nine and a half boot from your hind end when you’re through!” he shouted at her.
“That’s small…” Shay commented about his shoe size.
“Girl Shepard, Push up position now!” he snapped in a voice that rang out even louder than Shay thought was possible.
“You want me to do...push ups?” She arched an eyebrow.
“Did I stutter?!” He had a barely there smug smile on his face at this.
Shay, however, also smiled, “No sir, you didn’t” It was Shay’s turn to screw with him, her voice was smooth as honey at that point. She first lowered herself to her knees in front of him, but maintained eye contact.
“Better not even think about doing ‘girl’ push ups,” he snapped but his voice had lowered just a bit and he was staring intently back at her.
“Wouldn’t dream of it, sir,” She spoke to him in the same silky voice she’d have used for her clients, as she slid into correct push up position, slyly she put one hand behind her back to do one handed push ups. Her eyes never left his and she kept just the smallest hint of a smile on her face, “How many would you like me to do, Sir?”
There was a very slight barely there hesitation before he started to speak, “You will do push ups until I tell you to stop, let’s go, Up, down, Up, Done”
Shay complied but did them one handed, her eyes still peered up at him, tracking his movements as he began to pace. He was stubborn though, he didn’t look away from her. He seemed to become more angry, “You will address me as Sergeant, not ‘sir’ I worked for a living.”
“Of course, Sergeant,” she said congenially.
“Yes Sergeant,” he corrected standing in front of her never breaking eye contact. He waited for her to repeat it.
“Yes Sergeant,” she licked her lips casually, feeling the muscles in her arm start to burn as she continued doing push up. Bingo, She watched his eyes dart to her mouth.
“You will do as you’re told by your COs and Civy teachers, or I will run you until you puke then run you some more, I dare you to step outta line Girl Shepard, if you do your ass is mine!”
“You wish,” she muttered.
“Excuse me?!” He dropped down to squat next to her, “I didn’t hear that,”
“I said ‘Yes Sergeant’,” she replied coyly.
“On your feet,” he snapped.
She easily got back to her feet and he circled behind her probably to avoid the smoldering look she was giving him. His voice dropped, and he spoke through gritted teeth, “Don’t play games with me, Girl Shepard, you aren’t gonna win,” he raised his voice again, “Dismissed, Cadets, as you were.”
“Yo, girl, what the fuck was that?” Faith chuckled, “He almost broke baring.”
“Girl...he almost broke period, I used to be a stripper, it was the same look I gave my clients while I was givin’ them a lap dance,” She shrugged.
Jimmy stared at her, blinking, then sighed and shook his head. Eli laughed a bit.
“What? It’s almost the same thing, just strokin’ his enormous ego, the difference is, ain’t nobody gettin’ paid f’that,” Shahira shrugged.
“They’re not all quite so...confrontational…” Jimmy told her.
“Right? Better be careful, you stroke his ego too well he might want you to stroke somethin’ else,” Faith snorted.
“Yeah well, that ain’t free,” Shay said with a serious look and then chuckled, “I’m playin’ it’s only free to the sexy ones,” she said winking at Jimmy as the first bell rang.
she shuffles nervously, gaze focused upon fidgeting fingers, ignoring the white of her
dress and the words of the leading matriarch. marriage. a bond in human traditions--
not asari, but a c o m p r o m i s e in order to further develop the alliance between the
humans and the alien races. she was seen as the perfect candidate-- the daughter of
a brilliant matriarch; the youngest doctor within her race: smart, beautiful, and
unexpectedly shy.
liara lifts her head upon the sound of her betrothed’s name. james shepard. a remarkable allliance commander. the first human spectre. the first living specimen to have obtained
intel from an actual prothean device ( she has been obsessed with their disappearance
since a child ). he seemed interesting enough. she only hoped the marriage would work
as well as the council hoped...
there were steps quickly approaching her, glancing behind her shoulder to see her
intended shuffling up the stairs leading to the council’s center. he was followed by
captain anderson and counciler udina. or so her fellow asari whispered into her ear.
the asari ignored the hushed whispers from the crowd that had gathered within the
council’s balcony-- simply watching the man approach her quickly. liara couldn’t help
but stare--- yes, there were truly fascinating things about this man; and yet, she
couldn’t but a d m i r e his appearance. she was usually too busy working
( digging, really ) that liara paid little attention to admirers or those who were worthy
of admiration. but now, she had no dirt--- no prothean artifacts to uncover. simply
herself and a truly captivating man. and liara could not help but soften before him...

“I can feel your judgement from all the way over here... You’re welcome to join me, but only if you bring more syrup and maybe a coffee?” Sariya looked up, blue eyes squinting even behind the sunglasses.
@commanderxjxshepard liked for a starter from Kaidan.
Kaidan looked up when Shepard walked into the room. “Commander,” he said with a salute. “What can I do for you?” He swallowed, wondering why the man had come down to talk to the lieutenant.
