i really can’t blame kubo entirely for how things happened; he was shoved out well before he was ready to finish, after all. but yes, i feel things could have been handled differently, at many different points in the series. the problem with shounen manga is that we can never be 100% sure which were the mangaka’s choices and which were the editor’s demands. we don’t know if kubo dragged things out like he did because he wanted to or because the editors wanted him to.
in either case, it’s a lackluster finish to a manga that deserved so much more.
