As a senior, who has had only a $100 a raise in my private sector pension plan since 1994, I would think $45 an hour for teachers is plenty. Probably too much. My thought would be to exempt people over 65 from paying school taxes within their property tax. We cannot afford to pay these Hollywood lifestyles wages for teachers and other public sector employees. On energy now we are paying tax on tax. How much more can people pay these public sector workers and still keep our economy growing? I think we are over the limit now.

Away from your safe government jobs with fat pensions and fat wages then see how hard life really is!

OMIGAWD:

A lot of teachers are paid way more than they are worth for the time that they work. Funny how the all out strike comes a couple of week before school finishes for the Summer. I guess 2 months off wasn't enopugh for the poor dears. I'd love a job where I finished at 3.00 pm each day. Had all weekend off and got over 10 weeks vacation a year. Then get a big fat pension for "retiring" early thanks to the taxpayer. Get back to work you bunch of slackers, or go and get a job in the private sector and see how you like that!!!!

These teachers should grateful to have a job. And to those teachers who want a pat on the back because they are doing a good job I say it's your calling to a good job. So just do it and stop whining. Your lives could be a heck of a lot worse than they are.

My dog ate a ham bone twice monthly. No packaged treats, only home-made stuff (boiled egg, apple slices, etc). She lived 19 years without any health issues. She was a miniature dachshund.

China has become the perfect exemplar of Caveat Emptor Capitalism -- so what if it poisons the customer (the customer's children or the customer's dog), it's up to the customer to read the fine print and know everything there is to know about the product. If he doesn't, he deserves whatever happens. It isn't the manufacturer's duty to explain why using it's product amounts to suicide. That's the sort of Capitalism the US is building and the Capitalism the Conservative Party would like for Canada too! Best of all, a Capitalist economy can still be a totalitarian state!
