Published on September 2nd of 2014, this VictoriaSecret commercial titled “Fearless” was produced for Victoria Secrets online audience. This sixty-second video does a great job at hinting what Victoria Secret’s is all about, lingerie. The video is filmed in a dark space where the light only shines on the models bodies while they move around in a very sensual way. The audio choice for this video is a song that goes along with the sensual movements of the models. As the commercial goes on there is only the song, which allows the models to do all the talking with their body movements. The video starts with the Victoria’s Secret logo and is followed up by words saying, “Don’t hold back, Fearless a new collection.” After those words pop up the models that are wearing items from the new collection start modeling in a suggestive form. The models are wearing dark colored lingerie which when the light hits their pigment begins to stand out. This commercial is meant to announce the new collection from Victoria’s Secret and it does so by making women think that if they buy these items they will look and feel like the models in the video. The beat of the song playing in this video goes with all of the shots on this commercial. Most of the shots are body shots with a few brief head-shots. In the beginning of the video, there is a close up of the woman looking to the left of the camera with the light coming from the top right. The frames change as the music beats change. The dark chair emphasizes the dark colored lingerie and the selective lighting. The dark background and colors help to show the silhouettes of the models. At the end of the video, the directors incorporate a messy bed. This displays a for of seduction. The models also are wearing limited accessories so that it doesn't take away from the flawless collection. The words "Fearless" are repeated at the end of the video to remind the audience of the purpose of the collection.
Although this commercial is meant to target women who want to buy lingerie to look like the Victoria’s Secret model it also attracts males who want their woman to look like the models. I think the models were chosen because Victoria Secret models have an image to portray. This image is of sexy, flawless, fit, woman that want to show woman what they can be if they want. I think the director and costume designer for this commercial made a smart choice using dark colored lingerie. It truly shows what the lingerie looks like and it shows off the model's bodies well. Also, by having different races of models, it shows everyone woman can wear "Fearless" collection. I agree with the choices made by the directors and I think they were very effective with showing the audience what this new collection is about.
