#commission issues

Just a rule of thumb for anyone new to the whole commissioning thing. 

IF AN ARTIST HAS A SET OF RULES, THERE IS A REASON WHY THEY HAVE THOSE RULES! IF THE RULES MAKE YOU UPSET THEN THEY PROBABLY DON’T WANT YOU COMMISSIONING THEM. 

Just saying. They have commission rules to avoid the people who are either into something they aren’t willing to draw or people who try to low-ball artist. Respect another person’s wishes, or at the very least, don’t be a dick and question their rules they made for themselves. 

Those rules aren’t for your comfort, they are for the artist’s own personal comfort. K-THANKS~

Gang if your looking for permissions dont dm people asking for them to commission you, if people want to commission you they'll come to you not the other way around.

Also lets not lie about the circumstances (ex. its for my pet's surgery) if someone says no. If they say no respect it and move on.

Any uh graphic designers make a really nice design from a very vague client and they absolutely love it and then just take it and butcher it later ._.

I designed a ebook cover a few months ago and I told the author that if he wanted it ready for print that it would need some extra set up which I could do. Months later, I see a physical copy of the book sitting around somewhere and the original cover picture is just stretched over the whole thing with white text slapped over the top, spine, and back (the back is illegible because of this) and it cropped out almost all of the original typography etc. Like I totally get the client can do whatever they want for the most part but like damn...at that point why even ask me to design the original cover? Yeesh...it's just sad for me to look at since I spent so much time on it...

So... I need a little advice from my art peeps.

I have a commission that I've been waiting on for nearly a year and normally I don't mind waiting. This one however I've had a problem since they've given me updates saying that they'd send me updates or the finished product and that date will come and go with no updates or word that the update would be delayed at all. They've been okay for communicating and I usually try and leave a couple months between each message I send since I don't want to come off too pushy about it. It frustrates me more and more when I see them posting commissions similar to mine. I know that artists work at their own pace and everything and I have been doing all I can to be patient, but I'm starting to feel like I'm getting the old runaround with them. Any advice would be great since I had been looking forward to working with this artist again and recommending them to others but if this is how it is on a normal basis with them I can’t do it no matter what.

Issues T3T

More exactly, I have only one issue.

I'm actually planning to open commissions next week, BUT I'm confused a bit.

I think about that I'll offer 6 kind of commissions: sketch, coloured sketch, lineart, flat, cell-shaded, full-shaded. But I think it's ... too many. I don't know.

Like, last time mainly asked me for full-shaded ones, and I only did two coloured sketches. :l Of course, I do undestand if someone hasn't got enough money for a full coloured piece, but mwah. ;^;

Help ;3; What should I do?

when you get that feeling of 'yay! someones going to commission me!'

but once you give them a quote they never respond back to you so all youre thinking is 

are my prices too high im so sorry i should never price things again

Just another thing came into my mind, and it's actually a question...

Would I be an asshole, if I refused some people's commission requests?

Now, I'm totally serious. There are like... 2 people, and I just don't want to draw their characters, and it doesn't matter, if they offer a lot of money. 

I know that commissions are like paid requests you can't refuse, but... but. Yes, now I'm actually talking about Golden Ticket and Dew Droplet
