February 22nd, 2013, The Neighbourhood hadn't reached commercial success yet, but Sweater Weather had spent the last few months running rampant on 94/7 Alternative Portland (as well as other alternative stations everywhere i would expect). They played for 94 cents, so we loaded the car after a month or two of waiting and headed to Portland for what we new would be an awesome concert. What we didn't know at the time was just what a spectacular night we were in for.
The show's three acts were led by Chaos Chaos, and from the first song I was hooked. These sisters, i would learn a year later, were no stranger to success, having been the power duo at the core of Smoosh, a Seattle band that was apparently huge in the PNW when I was 9 or 10 - well, at least big enough to be on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and open for the likes of Pearl Jam, Death Cab for Cutie and JimmyEatWorld.
The performances were incredible, and I'm not sure that The NBHD could have found better openers.
Breaker is Asy and Chloe Saavedra's new one from the upcoming Chaos Chaos EP Committed to the Crime, out October 7th (my birthday - yes, I feel very special). I have no doubt these sisters will reach greater than just regional success this time around, and I am very much so looking forward to this new EP!
