boozhoo! was wondering if there's a reason you use powdered milk instead of canned or regular milk in the frybread? I haven't been able to find powdered milk at the local stores, but I can prolly order it online if it makes the frybread better!

Because that's how mom did it! But I do think it makes it fluffier, I have used whole milk and canned on occasional and even just water, but like just water will make a denser bread, and cold milk seems to lead to hard bread so just let it warm up. I get powdered milk through commods (usda food distribution program) so part of it is ease.

Oh shelf stable milk, had some luck with that too.

so I actually did quite a bit today, went to town, got the stuff to make chili, went to the rez, registered for commods, got my commods (wild rice, buffalo, and commod cheese, oh my), made a doctor's appointment, and visited at a relatives house for almost an hour

commods may technically better these days, what with the fresh fruit and veggies, but to me they're worse because they don't have that meatball stew anymore
