Last nite I had a great time volunteering with my friends at our church Community Dinner, were we have a free dinner for everybody. We served about 100 hungry souls. We had a cookout outside, we served hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and pudding, lemonade and coffee. It is on the last Friday of every month.

I’ve been a Brooklyn Community producer for over a decade. @bfreebk @bricbrooklyn has been in the practice of denying community producers of color their civil liberties. Like many corporations, they over step boundaries that supersedes the laws of this country. For years I have observed them practice being judge, jury, executioner, cowards, and bullies regarding Brooklyn community producers of color civil rights. August 1st 2015 I feel proud

of my communitty, every year my Church helps at the Neighborhood Bash, every August 1st.  My church started it 7 years ago, it was started by our former choir director. Every year it gets bigger and bigger. We have clothes donated through out the year, this year we had tons and tons of clothes, ( I think we had more then last year ) I  think that is great !! The power of God is awesome !! We have tables of clothes out in the parking lot, it was all free, there was free hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, bottled water, games, free toys, shoes.  The Neighborhood bash, it was all the way into Bayliss Park, with businesses having there booths.  It was really cool. I was at the welcome booth with my friends. We had people feel out surveys and gave people flyers about our church, I saw a lot of happy faces, leave.

Meet Hannah, a Task Doer

When Taskhub was launched in March 2013 and people started using our website ‘for real’, Rahul and I both felt excited and scared at the same time and above all, we wondered what people would think of our website!

Overall, we’ve been very lucky to receive a lot of encouraging words and feedback on the website from users and as a thank you, I usually like inviting a few of them to come in and meet in person.

A few days ago, I had the pleasure to meet with Hannah, a Taskhub member, after she had completed a Task through Taskhub.

I particularly enjoyed meeting with Hannah, not only because she simply has a vibrant personality, but also because she took the time to share her experience of Taskhub, from the moment she heard of Taskhub and signed up through to the moment when she got paid after completing her Task.

How did Hannah hear about Taskhub?

It is though this Evening Standard article that Hannah read about Taskhub.

Signing up and finding the right Task:

Right after reading the article, Hannah signed up on Taskhub and looked through the list of Tasks open for bids.

As Hannah explained, she felt she’d love to be a Task Doer and do something a bit original so when she found a quirky one, she immediately placed her £25 bid.

Her task?

Buy a pillow and deliver it at a London hotel. Quirky enough, isn’t it?

Winning the bid

Hannah was not the only person who bid on this Task, and her bid was not the lowest either. Yet, she was the lucky winner!

What next?

After exchanging a couple private messages about the type of pillow to buy and where Hannah should deliver it, Hannah excitingly went to buy the pillow.

I wish I could share a video of Hannah talking about the many questions she had after she got selected to do this Task, from the size of the pillow to its quality and whether or not she should have bought a matching pillowcase.  Her desire to do a good job was so obvious.

Completing the Task

Once Hannah delivered the pillow, she wondered whether or not the Task Requester would be completely satisfied with it.

The answer is: she was. In fact Hannah was paid the same day.

Feedback

As founders of Taskhub, both Rahul and I were very happy to hear Hannah talk about her journey on Taskhub as a user.

I personally felt it was great that Hannah insisted the goal of using Taskhub was not only to make money but also do something of value to someone.

On the other side, we feel it is important that users like Hannah share with us what they feel could be improved. And this is what came up.

Moving forward

As rightly pointed out by Hannah, it would be nice to improve the way Task Doers can be reimbursed on Taskhub.

After our meeting, Rahul and I had a catch up with the rest of the team.

Following this meeting, we decided to work on the functionality mentioned above and which should be released very shortly.
