My wife and I just came back from our local Pride festival.
Very small but nice. Lots of flyers being handed out by a really looking guy with the bushiest beard and most gorgeous rainbow skirt, all about year round stuff you can join.
QR code one can scan...and nothing else: no address, no email, no telephone, no other way to find this website.
Ask him about the NAME of the website.
He doesn't know. Is mildly perplexed we can't just scan the code.
Offers to scan on his own phone.
QR code doesn't work.
Suggests we trek to the distant marquee to ask someone there.
The marquee has business cards as well as flyers: great, I think, I can just take one of those!
No. Both business cards AND flyers devoid of ANY helpful information. Just a cursed little square of squiggles.
WHY, in the name of all that is holy, would you spend god knows how much on printing costs just to have something made that is as unhelpful as possible, and totally inaccessible to people without iphones?
For a festival that was very obviously priding itself on it's accessibility, it's absolutely wild to me how not even one person thought 'Hm maybe lets play it safe by not trusting all info to a single little squiggly box'
But no.
All 54 students from Dallas's Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy are going to college on scholarships. Truly Impressive.
